The Importance of Expert Patio Installation

A Well-Laid Patio Lasts for Decades – A Poorly Laid One Won’t

The key to a patio’s longevity is correct installation. Poorly laid surfaces can suffer from loose tiles, crumbling joints, and water damage. Our team ensures every patio is constructed to the highest standard, using the right methods for each material to create a seamless, durable finish.

Key Elements of a Professional
Patio Installation:

  • A properly compacted sub-base of sufficient depth to prevent movement.
  • Full mortar bedding to secure tiles and prevent cracking or shifting.
  • Application of a slurry primer to bond slabs to the mortar bed and prevent delamination.
  • Joint widths matched to the material – 10mm for natural stone, 5-6mm for porcelain – and filled with high-quality grouting compounds.
  • Drainage solutions, including cross falls, channel drains, or French drains, to prevent water pooling.

We use British Standard slurry grout, a long-lasting and durable option that provides up to 40 years of performance compared to cheaper alternatives.

"I am over the moon with my landscaped garden. Luke and the team have been professional through out. Did everything they said they would to a very high standard. Arrived on time and completed within the timeframe they said they would. I would highly recommend"

Choosing the Right Patio for Your Space

For Aesthetics & Durability

Different patio materials have unique benefits and maintenance requirements. While concrete paving is cost-effective, it can be porous and prone to weathering. Porcelain, on the other hand, has virtually zero water absorption, keeping it looking pristine for years. Natural stone and terracotta offer beautiful textures and colours but require careful selection to ensure longevity in the UK climate.

At Sibley Landscapes, we guide you through the best options for your project, considering durability, budget, and maintenance. Whether you want a contemporary porcelain patio, a traditional cobbled feature, or a natural stone terrace, we ensure a flawless installation that complements your outdoor space.
