Breathing New Life into an Old Garden
Reclaiming and rebuilding, time had taken its toll on this garden. We were tasked with creating a new space while retaining its old-world charm.
A mixed assortment of limestone flags was carefully lifted, cleaned, and re-laid like a giant jigsaw. Cobble inlays were used to seamlessly blend the new paving with the old. Our stonemason painstakingly dug up, sorted, and redressed piles of Lias walling, which would go on to form new walls, steps, pathways, and the star of the show — the greenhouse.
We reused existing stone from the site alongside reclaimed brick for quoins and cold frames, supporting the construction of this beautiful greenhouse. Old English clay pavers were laid on the floor to preserve the garden’s historic character.
Supporting all of these works are extensive drainage, water and electrical installations, ground shaping and levelling, fresh turfing, new fencing, and thoughtful planting throughout.
